We express our sincere regret and deepest condolences to those who lost their lives and to all the victims of the "Off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake" on March
11, 2011.
In this unprecedented disastrous earthquake, we, Building Research Institute, are tackling our missions with a united effort as the public research institute studying housing, building and urban planning.
Concretely, we are working hard to do the investigation of damaged buildings in Tohoku and Kanto area and are giving technical support on restoration based on the request from Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. We are also working on data analysis regarding earthquake and damaged buildings such as tsunami simulation.
All the staff of BRI and participants of IISEE training courses are safe after the earthquake despite some damage in the main building and testing facilities.
As it needs some time to restore the damaged testing facilities and come back to normal research and training operations, please excuse us for the inconvenience this may cause.
Your understanding in this matter will be very much appreciated.
March 15th 2011
Shuzo MURAKAMI, Chief Executive, BRI
