Two reaction walls for lateral loading
and steel frames for vertical loading |
This laboratory experimentally investigates the seismic safety of building
structures using a full-scale test building. The test structure installed
in the laboratory is constructed with the reaction floors,(floor A 20m(width)x25m(length);
floor B 15mx20m) together with two 25m-high reaction walls crossed at
right angles by another 15.5m-high wall. A full-scale seven-story bui1ding
with a maximum floor area of 400m can be tested. The horizontal loading
to a test building is carried out using actuators which are attached
to the reaction wall. Since these actuators are accurately controlled
by a computer, the test building is forced to move just as an actual
building moves when subjected to a real earthquake monition. Through
this test method named as pseudo-dynamic test, the dynamic behavior
of a building during an earthquake can be investigated quite in detail.
