Large-scale shear box of simple shear
type |
This laboratory is equipped with a large scale test facility, for soil-structure
dynamics such as earth pressure problems. A large-scale shear box (5mX4mX10m)
equipped in one of the laboratory's five large underground pits (depth:6m)
reproduces the ground vibrations generated during earthquakes. A testing
box (F=1.5m, W=3m) capable of dynamic and static leading is also equipped
to reproduce stress Conditions under deep ground for the development
of techniques for ground surveys, etc. Utilizing an artificial rainfall
apparatus, rainfall testing conducted at rainfall intensities of up
to 150mm/h is useful for solving the problems of earth pressure during
rainfall. In the pit reproducing soft ground, the soft ground subsidence
of a full-scale house can be tested.
