"Natural Ventilation of the Room with a Single Opening --- Wind-forced Ventilation Caused by Turbulence through a Single Opening"

Even if there is only one opening with the room and there is no temperature difference between inside and outside, the room will be ventilated due to external natural wind. It is said that there are some mechanisms of the wind-forced ventilation through a single opening. Two kinds of theoretical approach have been tried before. The one is pulsation theory and the other is mixing layer theory. In this paper, these theories are reviewed and the validity of each theory are examined by means of wind tunnel test. As a result the pulsation could not be applicable to the conditions of various wind directions. Then experimental equation is derived from the wind tunnel test using a small building model with a single circular opening. In addition, new approaches using CFD and PIV to know the airflow inside the single opening precisely will be tried and the dominant frequency of the velocity fluctuation were examined.

大阪大学大学院工学研究科建築工学部門の助教授を務める。1959年大阪に生まれ、1982年に大阪大学を卒業。1993年には大阪大学から博士(工学)の学位を授与される。学位論文のテーマは「自然風の乱れを考慮した風力換気計画法に関する研究」。氏の自然換気に関する研究は20年以上に及ぶが、最近は広範囲な領域で研究を行っている。現在のテーマは次の通り:置換換気、自然換気と床吹き空調を組み合わせたハイブリッド換気、厨房換気(天井換気)、空調気流制御のための天井扇利用技術、ソーラーチムニー、臭気評価法など。
