Practical Analysis of Interior Color Environment.

M.Inui; July, 1966. 22p.

Abstract

This report presents an analysis of current practice in relation to the requirements of interior color environment in buildings.

The first part of the paper describes the investigation of movie theaters, hotels, hospitals, schools, houses and apartments existing mainly in Tokyo. From this the color frequency has been evaluated using the Munsell notation and the ISCC-NBS designation. The balance point of each room is computed and at the same time the type of color harmony is classified.

A psychological experiment is described. In this, colored slides and colored models of each room were shown to several people to let them judge the comparative merits and demerits of the room. In this way the agreeable balance point and the agreeable type of color harmony were obtained for each kind of room.
