A Proposal for a Rational Aseismic Structural Design Process.

K.Nakano, Y.Aoki, K.Watanabe; September, 1976. 44p.

Abstract

This paper presents a proposal for an aseismic structural design process based on rational and synthesized design concept.

In Chapter 1, the structural planning and evaluating space, which have ever been treated ambiguously, are defined to establish a more comprehensible design process.

In Chapter 2, traditional design processes are analysed and it is shown that actual design processes are governed and controlled by three kinds of postul ate.

In Chapter 3, object postulate, the most important postulate of the above mentioned three postulates, is considered extensively.

In Chapter 4, an example of the design process based on the above context is shown.
