International Institute of Seismology and Earthquake Engineering

The International Institute of Seismology and Earthquake Engineering conducts basic and applied studies in the latest fields to reduce and prevent earthquake damages, such as the generation mechanisms of earthquakes, structure of the earth's interior propagation and amplification of seismic waves, technologies for monitoring earthquakes, dynamic properties of the ground and buildings, and earthquake resistant designs. The institute also transfers the knowledge and technologies of these fields to research fellows from developing nations in its international training program.
